Employees at Misje Rederi awarded medals

11.03.2009 during the general assembly at Norges Rederiforbund it was decided that Børge Misje was to be awarded their honourable Gold Medal. This was officially announced at Misje Rederi’s Christmas dinner December 2009.

To receive this medal a seafarer must at least serve 30 years in a shipping company, amongst them no less then 20 years at sea, and half of them in the same company. He must also have conducted his services with great satisfaction to his employers. His behaviour and morally conditions, both at sea and onshore, must be exemplary.

Børge Misje has without any doubt fulfilled these conditions. He began his career at sea the summer of 1969 as an AB at the age of 16 onboard a cargo vessel with his father and two uncles. His career began at Misje Rederi in 1977, were he first signed on the tug vessel Starmi as a Chief Officer. From 1979 to 1986 he served as a Captain onboard several different Misje vessels, mainly on the standby service at the North Sea. He came back to Misje Rederi in 1989, after 3 years on a life fish carrier. Then, he signed on Polarfront, first as Chief Officer, and from 1993 as Captain. He stayed onboard there until august 2005, when he finally decided to go onshore. Since that he has continued to work for Misje Rederi, but as a Marine Superintendent at the headquarters in Bergen.

During the dinner Leif Rangøy was also awarded the gold watch for 25 years loyal service as Chief Engineer onboard Polafront. The picture shows (from the left) Leif Rangøy, Nils Magne Fjereide (CEO) and Børge Misje during the ceremony.

Their colleagues congratulate both Leif Rangøy and Børge Misje with their achievements!
